Monaco Makes Magic Again

Who’s winning tournaments this year? Second seed Juan Monaco is. After winning his 8th title in the Power Horse Cup in Dussledorf and making a successful debut at the Suisse Open the Argentinean has now made a strong start at the 2013 Bet-At-Home Cup Kitzbuhel. He looks set to take home the cup if he continues to play as he did when he took on Andreas Haider-Maurer in the opening match and bet him solidly, and rather quickly, too.

I would suggest Monaco starts playing games at MobileCasino.co.nz as his lucky streak seems unending and he opened his bid to reclaim the Kitzbuhel title with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Andreas Haider-Maurer, the Austrian wild card who had been tipped to go far. Monaco came back 3 times from a break down in the second set and emerged victorious, once again affirming his ranking and setting himself up for victory. He played hard and fought for his shots and his expertise on the clay court shone through, whereas at times it seemed like Haider-Maurer wasn’t so sure of his footing and missed a few easy volleys, lobbing a good couple of balls into the net and seemingly not realising when he was out.

Monaco last won this ATP World Tour 250 clay-court tournament in 2007 when he defeated Starace, and has won an impressive seven of his eight ATP World Tour titles on clay courts. If he takes the cup in this tournament he will have claimed his second trophy for the season. He will go on to face Daniel Gimeno-Traver who beat Jan Hajek 6-3, 6-3 in a brief 73 minute match with the hopes of knocking him out and progressing to the next round.

Gimeno-Traver is seeded 62 in the world, a far cry from Monaco’s number 2 ranking, so he’s hoping for an easy win, however he best not forget that Gimeno-Traver leads the FedEx ATP Head2Head series 2 to 1 after he beat Monaco in 5 sets in the Roland Garros game in the first round, little over 2 months ago. Gimeno-Traver also has an added incentive to play; he is trying to reach his first semi-final of the season, so Monaco needs to put his best foot forward and use that magic that’s made him an 8 time ATP champion.
